Price matching

Price matching is where I save a lot of money. Almost as much as couponing in fact. There are 2 stores in town that price match Walmart and Target.  I have only done price matching at Target twice since you can't use Target coupon if you price match.  I figure I'll just go to Walmart and get the 500 other things I need in one trip instead of 2.  I'm just going to talk about how to price match at Walmart since it's pretty much the same concept at Target and I'm more familiar with Walmart's policies.

HOW TO PRICE MATCH
Walmart in town price matches: Target, Cash Wise, Econo, Kwik Trip, Rainbow Foods, Cub Foods, Menards, and pretty much every other store in a 50 mile radius.  You are not required to bring the ad with you to Walmart, but I almost always do.  It saves time because then the cashier doesn't have to look it up in their copy of the ad (if they have one) and it saves headaches since the cashier won't argue with you.  At least most of the time they won't.

If you have an ad that says Oscar Meyer hot dogs are on sale 2/$4 at Cub Foods, bring the ad to Walmart, pick up the same item (same brand and same size) as is advertised and bring it to the register.  I usually split up my groceries into price match and non-price match.  Tell the cashier before they scan the item that you're going to be price matching that item.  Show them the ad and they'll type in the price when they scan the item.  There, you're all done.  Remember to have a copy of Walmart's price matching policy with you when you go to the store.  You would not believe how many times I've had to flip to the back of my binder and point to a spot in their coupon policy or price match policy and show the cashier the correct thing.
