Welcome to Saving in a Small Town.

Hi! I'm Christina.  I'm a married mother of 2 who works full time and happens to be addicted to couponing and budgeting.  I'm starting this blog because I have learned how to budget, meal plan, and coupon and have friends who want to learn how I do it.

I live in a town of about 15,000 in the midwest.  We have Walmart, Target, Cash Wise, Shop Ko, and Econo Foods. With all those options, it's still impossible to get a cart full of groceries for $1.00.  I usually save between 25-50% on my grocery bills and even more than that on my household items.  Sometimes I do better, sometimes worse. I budget $400/month for groceries and household items for our family of 4.  Sound interesting?  Keep reading.

Here's what I do:
I budget.
I meal plan.
I coupon.
I shop sales and clearance.
I save money.

I'm very new to this whole blogging thing so you'll have to cut me a little slack if I'm slow starting out.  Plus, I am a busy mother, wife, and full time nurse, so I don't always have a ton of time to myself.  Ask me any questions and I'll try to answer or steer you in the right direction, but it might take a few days.  Feel free to post on here or email me at savinginasmalltown@gmail.com.

  1. Just came across your site from Pocket your Dollars. I live just outside the same community and do all my shopping there. Nice to see someone local starting a blog. I'm still learning so much when it comes to couponing and saving!

    1. Thanks for checking out my page! As you can see, I'm still trying to get my page off the ground and don't get a chance to post much, but I'm trying :) Make sure you ask me any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them! Check out my Facebook page under the same name (and share it too if you would). Thanks again and WELCOME!
